Governor-KP confers eight civil awards on notable personalities

Governor Shah Farman on behalf of President Dr Arif Alvi on Wednesday conferred civil awards on eight prominent personalities from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in recognition of their services in their respective fields.
A grand ceremony was arranged here at the Governor’s House in connection with Pakistan Day.
Deputy Speaker KP Assembly Mahmood Jan, lawmakers, senior government officials, relatives and well-wishers of the recipients of the awards attended the ceremony.
Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah was given the Pride of Performance Award in acknowledgement of their services in the field of arts and drama.
Governor gave the award to Shaukat Mehmood in the field of music and singing, Ms Qamro Jan also received the presidential award in recognition of her service in the field of arts and folk singing.
The Governor presented the Pride of Performance, commonly known as the Presidential Award posthumously, to Tahir Afridi (late) for his outstanding services in the field of literature. His award was received by his nephew Muhammad Omar Khan.
The Governor awarded Shahzada Sikandar-ul-Mulk the Presidential Award for Excellence in Polo and Sports for his outstanding services.
Prof Dr Usman Hassan in the field of education and engineering, Lal Mohammad Awan the art and acting and Ejaz Sarhadi were awarded in recognition of their achievements in different disciplines.
On the occasion, Governor KP Shah Farman congratulated the recipients of the Presidential Civil Awards.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Pakistan Civil Awards was established in March, 1957. The announcement of civil awards is generally made once a year on Independence Day, August 14, and their investiture takes place on the following Pakistan Day, March 23,. The President of Pakistan confers civil awards on Pakistani citizens in recognition of gallantry. Award of performance are conferred for outstanding achievements in the field of arts, literature, science, sports and nursing.
