Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar on Monday suggested reserved seats for Overseas Pakistanis in the National and Provincial Assemblies and said that in addition to the right to vote, overseas Pakistanis should also be represented in the Assemblies through special seats.
According to details, Sarwar on Monday met members of British Parliament and overseas Pakistanis. During the meeting, various issues including the solution of the problems of Overseas Pakistanis and the politics of Overseas Pakistanis in UK were discussed.
During the meeting, Punjab’s governor said that number of seats reserved for overseas Pakistanis should be increased in Azad Kashmir.
Sarwar said that the PTI government gave overseas Pakistanis the right to vote but in addition to giving the right to vote, seats in the National and Provincial Assemblies should be reserved for overseas Pakistanis so that they can be a part of important decisions in the country, including legislation, and it will definitely help solve the problems of overseas Pakistanis in a better way.
He said that overseas Pakistanis must participate in the politics of Pakistan but at the same time they must participate in the politics of the countries where they live. There was a time when Pakistanis were doing politics in Europe more actively than Indians but this is not the case today.
