ISLAMABAD: Government has decided to curtail the powers of Higher Education Commission (HEC). Sources said cabinet committee legislation has approved the amendment. Now the status of federal minister will be withdrawn from HEC chairman. Education ministry will accord approval to HEC rules after amendment while the executive director will be appointed by the government. Prime Minister office has decided to review amendments bill. Following the approval from PM office the amendments will be placed before cabinet. Online
