Govt drops bombshell of electricity on people

Once again shock of expensive electricity has been given to inflation stricken people by increasing electricity rates.
The price of electricity has been increased by Rs 1.90 per unit.
Nepra has issued the approval notification under the head of fuel price adjustment for May.
According to notification, the hike in tariff will be applicable on the bills for the month of July.
Increase in cost of electricity will not be applicable to life line and K-electric consumers.
CCP had requested an increase of RS 2.05 per unit.
NEPRA had heard the request on July 5th.
It is to remember that the Central Power Chasing Agency had submitted a complaint to NEPRA for increasing the price of electricity just a few days after the largest hike in the country’s history in the basic electricity tariff.
There is likelihood of further enhancing power tariff by RS 1.88 per unit. .
The increase in electricity prices was sought in the context of monthly fuel price adjustment.
The application of CCP will be heard by NEPRA on 26 July.
Meanwhile, preparations have been made to drop electricity bombshell on the citizens of Karachi.
K-electric has submitted the application in NEPRA seeking increase in the cost of electricity by RS 2.33 per unit.
NEPRA has fixed the basic electricity tariff at around RS 30. However, cost per unit of electricity will go up higher with adding all charges and taxes. .
Following the inclusion of taxes and other charges, One unit of electricity will cost more than Rs 50.
