PESHAWAR
Amun Taraqqi Party (ATP) chairman Muhammad Faiq Shah said the incumbent coalition government has failed to fix the economy and resolve people’s problems.
According to a statement issued here on Sunday, Faiq expressed grave concern over rising price-hike’, rapid de-industrialization and joblessness as a result of flawed economic policies of the present government.
He said a huge burden of additional taxes was imposed on poor masses, warning of a fresh wave of inflation in the country.
The party leader said social and economic injustices are increasing owing to the present cruel and oppressive system.
No one is paying heed to miseries of poor masses as everyone is fighting for political survival and gaining power, he observed.
Shah criticised the incumbent coalition government over its dismal performance during the last 14 months.
He noted that political instability has brought destruction everywhere in the country.
Legal and constitutional norms and values had been crushed down under the feet, Faiq observed.
He added no measures were taken to put the economy on the right track and uplift the living standard of poor people and resolve their issues on priority grounds.
The ATP chairman said price-hike has brought all previous records.
He said people have been highly frustrated by the 13-parties unity government, which had left no stone unturned to increase their miseries.
Shah said economic issues being faced by the country could not be resolved without the public and business community support.
He slammed the government for celebrating the loan deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), saying it was the public who would repay the debts.
The ATP chief asked the government to disclose the details of its recently reached agreement with the IMF.
He called the $3 billion standby agreement with the IMF a “temporary relief” that would not assuage the situation for the public.
Shah re-emphasized that the caretaker government should be set with mutual consensus to ensure fairness of elections not to be questioned.
