Govt providing subsidy to poor segments keeping in view their financial woes due to inflation: PM

Prime Minister (PM|) Imran Khan has said government is providing subsidy to the poor segments of society on essential commodities keeping in view their financial woes due to inflation.

“the respective authorities should accelerate the pace of registration process to benefit the poor people”, he said this while presiding over a meeting under Ehsass Rashan program here Thursday.

The meeting was attended by SAPM on Poverty Alleviation Dr Sania Nishtar, Advisor on Finance Shaukat Fayyaz Tarin, Chief Minister GB Khalid Khurshid, SAPM on Political Communication Dr Shehbaz Gill and senior officers concerned.Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar, Chief Minister KP Mahmood Khan, Prime Minister AJ&K Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan Niazi joined the meeting via video link.

It was said during the briefing given to the meeting that subsidy of millions of rupees is given every month under Ehsas Ration Program. A monthly subsidy of Rs. 1000 on flour, ghee and pulses will be given to 20 Million households of Pakistan that have their monthly income below Rs. 50,000.

The Prime Minister was briefed that the Programme will be launched across the country on 15th December. 2021. Registration of Karyana Stores under the Programme is in progress, and more than 15000 Karyana stores have been registered so far
The PM directed the concerned authorities to speed up the registration process to provide benefit to maximum poor family.

He also directed that the district government authorities should also be included in this process to create awareness among the karyana stores and beneficiaries.

PM underlined that government is taking every possible step to extend maximum relief to common man.
