District administration Badin, SIDA and irrigation departments advised the growers of tail-ends to commence the rice cultivation with initially seedling of paddy crops in the district.
Dr. Hafeez Ahmed Siyal, Deputy Commissioner, Badin along with SIDA officials including Mir Ghulam Ali Talpur, Director, SIDA and others while holding an important Press Conference here at his campus office, on Sunday advised the growers to start the rice cultivation as within seven days water rotation would be finished in the district.
He maintained that water shortage in Kotri barrage has been minimized then ultimately water level in the Phuleli canal has been increased which facilitated the additional water flow in none perennial canals of district, he added. Dr. Siyal said that despite shortage existed in the water system of the province with sincere efforts of the Sindh Govt and improving the water management system, the water shortage in the Kotri barrage was reduced till 23pc which earlier was till 50pc.
Adding he said that Phuleli canal’s water flow was being maintained with twelve thousand cusec recently and none perennial canals including Mirwah and Manak canal were being maintained with additional water flow which ultimately providing the benefit to local growers and farmers.
He said that water rotation at the canals of Golarchi taluka would also be ending till the end of upcoming week adding that water rotation in the Akram Wah system would be continue till overall improvement in the water system of the province.
Dr. Siyal said district administration Badin was now in the position to control the water shortage after couple of month’s uninterrupted taken efforts adding that those who were illegally getting water more than his due share will also bring in the account.
Deputy Commissioner Badin assured that stern action would be taken against those who theft the water of the local growers and farmers and adding the loss to the growers and farmers of the district.
On the occasion, Mir Ghulam Ali Talpur and others SIDA officials also addressed the press conference and responded the queries of the journalists.
