Sindh Minister for Works & Services and Prisons, Ali Hassan Zardari, paid rich tribute to Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto on his 46th martyrdom anniversary, describing him as a visionary and astute political leader who dedicated his life to the nation.
Speaking to this correspondent, the minister highlighted Bhutto’s exceptional leadership in navigating Pakistan through crises and elevating its stature on the global stage. “With his wisdom and foresight, Shaheed Bhutto not only strengthened Pakistan’s democratic identity but also steered the country toward progress and stability,” he said.
Reflecting on Bhutto’s enduring legacy, Ali Hassan Zardari noted that he assumed leadership at a critical juncture in Pakistan’s history, uniting political forces to present the nation with a consensus Constitution—an achievement the country continues to take pride in. He also emphasized Bhutto’s pivotal role in initiating Pakistan’s nuclear program despite immense international pressure, a decision that ultimately made Pakistan the only Islamic nuclear power. “This remains one of his greatest services to the nation,” the minister remarked.
Discussing the continued legacy of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), he acknowledged the contributions of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, who became the first female Prime Minister in the Muslim world after Bhutto’s martyrdom. He lauded the leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, who he said have carried forward Bhutto’s vision and mission. “The PPP remains committed to the principles of ‘Roti, Kapra, aur Makaan’ (Food, Clothing, and Shelter), striving to ensure equal rights for all, particularly the underprivileged,” he added.
Ali Hassan Zardari also highlighted the PPP’s development initiatives in Sindh, stating that record-breaking projects are underway in district Thatta particularly in own constituencies PS-76 . Meanwhile, a large procession, led by PPP Thatta District President Sadiq Ali Memon and General Secretary Imtiaz Qureshi, among others, proceeded to Garhi Khuda Bux to pay homage at Bhutto’s mausoleum in Larkana.
The minister reiterated that Bhutto’s sacrifices and services to the nation would never be forgotten, and his vision continues to inspire the PPP’s dedication to Pakistan’s progress and democracy.
