The Hazara Independence Sports Gala concluded with all its vibrancy and excitement. The event’s chief guests were Provincial Minister for Revenue Nazeer Abbasi and Chairman of the District Development Committee (DDAC), MPA Iftikhar Khan Jadoon.
They were accompanied by City Mayor Shuja Nabi, former District Nazim Colonel Shabbir, former Director General of Sports Tariq Mahmood, and Sports Officer Junaid Rehman, who served as the guests of honor.
The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Speaking on the occasion, the Provincial Minister for Revenue Nazeer Abbasi and Chairman DDAC MPA Iftikhar Khan Jadoon emphasized that providing positive activities for the youth, especially boys and girls, in today’s era is nothing short of an act of worship.
They praised the event organizers, Shaukat Hussain and Zia-ul-Islam Awan, for their commendable efforts in offering sports activities to the youth.
They remarked that these children are a valuable asset, and such events give them opportunities to showcase their talents.
The officials expressed their optimism that these young participants would go on to represent their district, region, province, and even the country on national and international platforms, bringing pride to the nation.
In the sports competitions, Marwa secured the runners-up trophy in women’s badminton, while Laiba Mushtaq claimed the winner’s trophy.
In men’s squash, Abu Bakar was declared the winner, and Saem Tariq took the runners-up trophy.
In the women’s squash event, Halima won the title, and Jia was the runner-up. In boys’ table tennis, Hamza took the runners-up position, and Hamza (another participant) clinched the winner’s trophy. In the women’s table tennis event, Mahnoor was the runner-up, and Maryam emerged as the winner.
In the emerging talent category, Ayan and Shayan received awards. In Taekwondo, Abbottabad Taekwondo Club won the winner’s trophy, while City Club took the runners-up position.
In men’s basketball, Abbottabad Blue secured the runners-up trophy, and Red clinched the winner’s title. In the women’s basketball event, Abbottabad Blue won the title, while White took the runners-up trophy.
Chief organizer Shaukat Hussain expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the guests for gracing the occasion and making the event memorable.
