In a collaborative move to boost family planning and maternal and child health services, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department and Population Welfare Department have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The agreement was formalized by Dr. Muhammad Saleem, Director General of Health Services, and Ayesha Ehsan, Director General of Population Welfare.
This partnership aims to leverage the expertise of Lady Health Workers (LHWs) to strengthen service delivery across the province. The MoU outlines joint strategies for optimizing resources, training, and outreach efforts, with a focus on improving health outcomes for mothers and children.
Officials from both departments emphasized that this initiative marks a significant step forward in addressing critical health challenges, promoting sustainable family planning practices, and ensuring better access to essential health services in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The ceremony was attended by Advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Health Ihtisham Ali and Special Assistant for Forest Environment and Wildlife Peer Musawir Khan Ghazi, underscoring the collaborative effort between the two departments.
Under this MoU, both departments will work to ensure better access to LHW services to enhance family planning and maternal-child health outcomes. The agreement establishes a framework for improved coordination between the departments, enabling LHWs to deliver more effective family planning and health services.
This initiative is expected to significantly reduce stunting, neonatal mortality, and maternal deaths during pregnancy, contributing to the overall improvement of health indicators in the region.
