Karachi : KARACHI, August 28 (Online): As many as 25 people have died in the rain related incidents here during the current devastating and record breaking spell of monsoon rains.
The devastating rains have left most parts of the city flooded with water and no electricity while a large number of people were stranded due to roads becoming impassable and all the underpasses flooded with rain water.
Pakistan Army, Navy, Sindh Rangers and other civic agencies are busy in draining the water and helping people affected during the rain-hit areas in Karachi.
Pak Army has established a Flood Emergency Control Centre to deal with flood relating emergencies while medical camps have also been established in the areas of Gulberg, Liaquatabad and New Karachi.
Many people took to Twitter to laud the security personnel’s endless efforts in evacuating people, dubbing them as real and national heroes who were seen standing on flooded roads in the stormy weather without a worry of time.
It may be pointed out that the current spell of rain in the metropolis broke the record of maximum rain recorded in one day with 223 millimeter rain recorded in just 12 hours. The previous recorded was 211 mm in 24 hours in July 1967.
Furthermore, the government has asked the people to stay put and follow the safety measures and precautions to stay safe in these troubling times.

Mobile and internet services have been affected in the metropolis after heavy rain wrecked havoc in the city.
The internet services were already affected by the rains in Karachi, and now mobile networks are no longer working.
People are facing a lot of difficulties to communicate with their relatives and family in this difficult time.
PTCL’s internet Wi-Fi service was also badly affected due to the heavy rainfall received in Karachi.
