Heavy rainfall and hailstorm hit Turkey’s biggest city Istanbul on Tuesday, creating havoc and paralyzing traffic.
The downpour caused flash floods in several locations and many vehicles were trapped on the roads of the megapolis with a population of over 16 million. Meanwhile, the hailstorm caused damages to vehicles, mainly in the Asian part of the city, smashing their windows. Some residents covered their cars with blankets to protect them from the walnut-sized hails.
Weather forecasts said powerful rainfalls and hailstorms would continue throughout the day in Istanbul and the northwestern region of the country, warning people not to go out unless necessary.
