IG-KP lauds police role in relief operations in flood-hit areas

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Moazzam Jah Ansari has directed police officers deputed at flood-hit districts of the province to mobilize all available resources and take active participation in ongoing relief and rehabilitation.
He said that police chiefs of different regions should set-up donation camps and provides necessary assistance to government departments for ensuring supply of relief to masses badly affected by the recent flash floods in different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the details, on the instructions of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, the IGP has issued an order to the top police officials of the flood-affected regions and districts to work day and night to serve the people in this hour of trouble.
The policemen, regardless of their losses, immediately worked for the relief and rehabilitation of the flood-affected areas with the passion and determination they needed.
“Every young man of the police became an image of self-sacrifice by being devoted to the spirit of patriotism,” he added.
From Chitral to Tank, the policemen have been at the forefront in informing the people about the flood risk and rescuing the people trapped in the flood water, he added.
G-KP said that temporary control rooms have been set up at various affected areas under the police supervision and a comprehensive mechanism has been devised for conducting police patrols in the affected areas.
Moazzam Jah Ansari said that in order to cope with the ongoing emergency situation arises due to floods, police department and its force has played key role in establishment of law and order, relief and rehabilitation operations.
Swat Police delivered complete packages to 735 families badly affected by the recent floods.
He said that floods have caused destruction in Madin Bahrain, Mankyal, Kalam and Tehsil Bahrain areas, adding 150 police personnel carried out rescue operation and shifted stranded people to safe locations.
Around 60 tourists including doctors from Punjab were rescued and shifted to safe places, he added.
Tank Police provided free treatment to 447 patients in the affected areas of Shah Alam, Chowki Gul Imam, Manjhikhel, Kor Chowki, Chowki Sadgi etc. 30 prisoners were transferred to DI Khan while 30 prisoners were safely transferred to Bannu Jail in the judicial lock-up of Tank.
Three truckloads of goods containing various items to flood victims, while SHOs of Shahpur Police Station and Mathura Police Station distributed Rs 11 lakh aid to flood victims.
“Foolproof security is being provided to the teams and volunteers participating in the relief work,” IG added.
IGP Muazzam Jah Ansari has praised the role played by the K P Police in the national tragedy and has urged the cops to win the hearts of the people, especially the flood victims.
