ISLAMABAD : Islamabad High Court (IHC) has admitted for early hearing PTI petition in connection with investigation into PPP and PML-N party funds.
Registrar office was directed to fix for hearing Farrukh Habib petition on December 22.
Counsel for PTI Faisal Chaudhry appeared in the court.
The Chief Justice (CJ) IHC remarked we fix the date after holidays.
Faisal Chaudhry advocate prayed the court please fix it earlier as it will be too much late . It is a small matter.
The court remarked it is small matter too. But in next week big problems are fixed for hearing . We do so that petition is fixed for hearing before holidays.
It is pertinent to mention that PTI leader Farrukh Habib has filed the petition; Election commission has been made respondent in the petition. Supreme Court order is there with reference to party funds scrutiny. Scrutiny of only three years funds of PPP and PML-N is being carried out. On the petition of Akbar S Babar the scrutiny of party funds of PTI was conducted from 2008. PTI was given discriminatory treatment as compared to other parties.
Election Commission lost its equitable and transparent role with reference to party funds scrutiny
It has been requested in the petition the court should order election commission to complete scrutiny of party funds in respect of PPP and PML-N within two weeks. The court should also order election commission to scrutinize party funds for five years.
The court while accepting the plea for early hearing of the petition adjourned the hearing till December 22.
