IHC puts PMDC on notice in contempt of court plea in golden hand shake matter

Islamabad High Court (IHC) has put on notice Pakistan Medical and Dental Commission (PMDC) in contempt of court petition for giving golden hand shake forcibly to the employees of PMDC.

The contempt of court plea came up for hearing before a single bench of IHC led by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani here Friday.

Zainab Janjua and Rana Umar Iqbal appeared in the court on behalf of the employees.

Zainab Janjua advocate told the court PMDC is giving golden hand shake forcibly to its employees. PMDC has extended two offers but they are not providing details. New appointments are being made against the posts from where the employees are being sent to home under golden hand shake scheme..
The court inquired what are the details of the golden hand shake they are giving.

Zainab Janjua advocate told the court we have not been told what are the details of golden hand shake scheme.

The court remarked this case was pending hearing with superior judiciary.

The defence counsel said the case is pending hearing with superior judiciary and no decision has come from there.

The court remarked only difference is this earlier they were laying off employees without making any payment. Now they are removing them from service with payment.

Defence counsel said golden hand shake will be taken at one’s will. It cannot be given forcibly.

The court while issuing notice adjourned the hearing of the case till January 10.
