IHC stops PTA from taking action against two mobile phone operator companies

Islamabad High court has stopped Pakistan Telecommunication Authority from taking action against two mobile phone operator companies.
Court has also sought parawise reply from the ministry of information technology and from PTA till May 14 .
IHC Chief Justice, Justice Athar Minallah took up the pleas filed by Pakistan mobile communication limited and Telenor Pakistan for hearing on Monday.
During the course of hearing, Hamid Khan Advocate from petitioners took the plea that license was issued on May 26, 2004 for fifteen years. Renewal of license is our right.
He said PTA has to decide on renewal of license within three months.
We have written a letter to PTA in this regard on March 31st, 2016 but no decision has been taken on the application till yet, he said.
He said respondents are delaying the process of renewal of license intentionally.
Deputy Attorney General Raja Khalid Mehmood has prayed court for giving time to file reply.
Court while giving time to file reply adjourned the hearing till May 14.
