PESHAWAR
Secretary Livestock and Fisheries Dr Akbar Ali Khan on Friday announced that strict action would be taken against illegal fishing in the province, saying a ban imposed by the department concerned would be strictly implemented.
He directed officers and field staff of the department to perform their responsibilities efficiently for the development of fisheries as an industry in the province.
Secretary Livestock and Fisheries directed the relevant officers to ensure that fish are not caught illegally in the rivers. Strict measures should be taken to control illegal hunting. He issued these directives to the concerned authorities on the occasion of visiting Malakand Division. During the visit the Secretary inspected fisheries department’s hatcheries and related government research centres in Madain and Kalam.
On the occasion of his visit, Secretary Fisheries and livestock also released fish for the breeding of high-quality trout at the local level in the Swat River.
Dr Akbar Ali also met with people related to the fisheries sector in Hatcheri and said that trout fish is a unique type of rare and highly nutritious natural breeding fish found in the rivers of Malakand division, which is especially famous for this area and the government will try to save this blessing.
