IMF can consider deferment of repayment of more loans in the wake of third wave of corona virus

ISLAMABAD – April 14 (Online): IMF representative has said that IMF can consider to defer the repayment of loans by Pakistan in the wake of third wave of corona virus.
Addressing a seminar here IMF representative said levying corona tax or otherwise to enhance tax revenue is mandate of parliament.
Leveling the wealth tax to met corona virus expenses is domain of parliament. Pakistan can enhance tax revenue by expanding the tax net. We want tax reforms in Pakistan. It is must that tax exemption be limited in Pakistan. It is necessary that rupee should be stabilized against dollar in Pakistan. Extending help to poor segments of society in Pakistan is must. Reducing line losses in Pakistan is necessary.
IMF representative said Pakistan economy had started treading on path to stability before corona virus.
IMF representative held that loans and government guarantees have reached the level of 92.8 percent of the national economy in Pakistan. Pakistan will have to make circular debt management. Pakistan will have to enhance power tariff. No dictation has been given on the autonomy of state bank of Pakistan. We can make more funding to Pakistan in the face of third wave of corona virus.
