Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan in his reply submitted to the Supreme Court of Pakistan in the contempt of court case on Monday, expressed his ignorance about any assurance given on his behalf by the party leadership to the apex court that the participants of PTI’s long march would not enter Islamabad’s D-Chowk on May 25, 2022.
Imran also stated this emphatically that he had great respect for judiciary, and he could not think of violating any court’s order. PTI chairman also sought time from the apex court for the submission of detailed reply in the case until November 3.
The federal government had on October 13, 2022 filed a contempt petition in the Supreme Court against former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for violating the court orders during the party’s long march on May 25, 2022.
The government, in its petition, argued that the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan had been violated blatantly on May 25. “Instead of going to the sector H-9 ground of Islamabad, Imran gave a call to the PTI workers to reach D-Chowk.
The PTI workers damaged public and private property in the Red Zone,” it alleged. “It is clear from the reports of the police and intelligence agencies that the court orders had been defied,” it added.
