JI Amir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman ha said increase in poverty proves that programs like Benazir Income Support have failed.
He said this while addressing a press conference in Mansoora here Thursday.
He held poverty in Pakistan has surged to alarming proportion. As per global standard over 11 crore people are living below poverty line.
JI secretary general Amir ul Azeem and Naib Amir liaqat Baloch were also present on the occasion.
Criticizing Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) he said this program is being used for corruption, political objectives and vote bank instead of welfare of poor masses.
Had Rs 700 billion which are spent on these programs been spent on IT Education, benefit of billions of dollars would have gone to national economy.
He demanded those getting salary upto Rs 125000 be exempted from taxes. The burden of Rs 499 billion has been shifted to salaried class. On the other hand feudal class does not pay tax a single penny.
He pointed out 111 government departments are exempted from tax. Institutions like Fouji Foundation and Zia hospital are included in them.
He said government and opposition abuse each other but they get united for increasing salaries and privileges by 6 times.
He declared utility bills, petrol levy and tax imposed on solar systems anti people saying such steps are drifting the poor and middle class to poverty.
