KHYBER AGENCY: Although most the Independence Day celebrations were suspended due to security reasons but the day was observed with enthusiasm and zeal by the tribesmen on Sunday.
O the eve of 14 August the tribal decorated their house, vehicles with the national flags in addition with beautifying of all business centers throughout Landikotal bazaar.
The day was downed with special prayers,offered in the Morning prayer for the prosperity and solidarity of Pakistan.
In this connection a simple but impressive gathering was held at Torkham border that was attended by administration officials beside with Pak border security officials.
Brig. Qayyum Paracha who was the chief guest on the occasion hoisted the national flag and presented salute. The forces official presented sweets to Col Qaseem, in-charge border security of Afghanistan at the Pak-Afghan sharing border, Torkham.
Prior to it, eye-catching demonstration of fireworks organized by Khyber Kashraan Committee was held last night to commemorate the Independence Day here at Sultan Khel area of Zakha Khel.Large numbers of tribesmen witnessed the show and amused of it.
Music gatherings and get together were also initiated in Degree College for Boys Landikotal and Zakha Khel to remember the day.
To honor the Independence Day, a car rally was also commenced, began from Jamrud to Landikotal leading by Member National Assembly(MNA)Alhaj Shahjee Gul Afridi.
