Muhammad Ali Randhawa, DG Passport at Independence Day flag-hoisting ceremony at Shifa International Hospitals
Islamabad, 14 August: The nation’s 79th Independence Day was celebrated with deep patriotic passion at Shifa International Hospitals today. A large gathering of employees, patients, members of civil society and the general public attended the flag-hoisting ceremony, reflecting national unity and pride.
Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Director General of Immigration and Passports, graced the event as chief guest. He appreciated Team Shifa’s dedication in delivering modern, quality healthcare. Recalling his recent personal experience when his mother was admitted at the hospital, he highly praised the professionalism, compassion and high standards of care shown by the medical and support teams. Highlighting the link between the Pakistani passport and national identity, he said a passport is not merely a travel document but a powerful symbol of Pakistani citizenship, dignity and sovereignty. Every genuine passport, he noted, carries the honor of Pakistan across the world. He congratulated the nation on 79th Independence Day and the historic Makkah Joint Defense Agreement, calling it a significant milestone that strengthens collective security and brotherly ties with Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.
Dr. Zeeshan Bin Ishtiaque, Chief Executive Officer Shifa International Hospitals underlined the significance of this year’s celebrations. “True to the spirit of service, Shifa’s healthcare heroes stand ready every day to support the people of Pakistan with skill, resilience and an unwavering sense of duty,” he said. He added that the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement is a source of national pride that reinforces Pakistan’s security and unity.
