Installation of firewall, closure of internet challenged in IHC

ISLAMABAD: Petition has been filed in Islamabad High Court (IHC) against closure of internet owing to installation of firewall. The petition was filed on Friday making cabinet secretary, IT secretary, and interior secretary respondents. PTA and ministry of human rights are also included in the respondents. The petitioner has requested the court through petition that installation of firewall which is affecting fundamental rights of citizens be stopped. Installation of firewall be linked to consultation with all stake holders and protection of basic human rights. The petitioner has also appealed access to internet for the sake of livelihood be declared fundamental human rights under the constitution. Report be called from the respondents based on all the details about firewall. The citizen has prayed the process of installation of firewall be suspended till the decision of the petition.
