Inter-District Gymnastics Championship kicks off

The Peshawar Division Inter-District Gymnastics Championship commenced with a colorful opening ceremony at the Gymnastics Academy of Hayatabad Sports Complex. A large number of male and female athletes from Peshawar, Charsadda, and Khyber districts are showcasing their skills and artistic abilities in the event.
The opening ceremony was graced by the Secretary General of the Provincial Gymnastics Association, Muhammad Raja, as the chief guest. Former top gymnast and technical official, Shamsur Rehman Orakzai, and the Academy’s coach and organizing secretary, Muhammad Gul, were also present along with a large gathering of athletes, coaches, and spectators. On the first day, young boys and girls, in particular, impressed the audience with their energetic and skillful performances, earning loud applause from the crowd.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary General Muhammad Raja emphasized that the future of gymnastics in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa lies in the hard work and dedication of the players. He said the Provincial Association is not only providing opportunities to athletes but also working to modernize their basic training. He announced that a comprehensive training camp for players and coaches will soon be organized to further enhance their capabilities.
Former gymnast and official, Shamsur Rehman Orakzai, said the participation of young children in gymnastics is a positive sign, as the sport promotes physical and mental well-being while nurturing confidence, discipline, and endurance among youth. He added that inter-district competitions play a vital role in preparing athletes for larger national and international events.
Coach Muhammad Gul, in his address, highlighted that the Gymnastics Academy at Hayatabad Sports Complex is a hub for nurturing young talent. He expressed confidence that the children receiving training here will go on to bring pride to the province and the country at national and international platforms. He further stated that such events boost the morale of players and encourage them to work harder.
