Interference in ROs’ duty will not be tolerated: EC Punjab

Provincial Election Commissioner (EC) Punjab has said that interference in the work of Returning Officers (ROs) will not be tolerated in any way.
Regarding the complaints of snatching nomination papers from candidates and police interference, Provincial Election Commissioner Punjab Saeed Gul contacted has asked Inspector General (IG) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar.
Election Commissioner of Punjab said that the Election Commission has to give level playing field to all the political parties to conduct transparent elections, it is the right of the candidates to submit their nomination papers.
He said that action will be taken if the police prevents any candidate from submitting nomination papers. They will not tolerate any obstruction in the transparent election.
IG Punjab while assuring cooperation to the Provincial Election Commissioner said that instructions have been issued to the RPOs. They are with the Election Commission to conduct transparent elections, action will be taken if any officer is found involved in illegal activities.
