International Customs Day observed in Peshawar Customs House

PESHAWAR A prestigious ceremony has been organized in Peshawar Customs House in connection with the World Customs Day with Chairman Federal Board of Revenue Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana was the chief guest while Chief Collector Customs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Syed Akram and other senior officials of Custom Department attended the ceremony. International stakeholders and partners and their representative delegations have also participated in the event. In his address to the gathering Chairman Federal Board of Revenue Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana has said that Customs has played a key role in the global and domestic economy. He said that it is because of customs agencies that international trade and safe movement of goods is being ensured. He has said that the customs officials and officers are taking practical steps to prevent cross-border smuggling despite the challenges. Chairman Federal Board of Revenue Malik Amjed Zubair further said that every possible effort should be made to prevent cross-border smuggling because it has a negative impact on the global and domestic economy and the money from smuggling is used in terror financing and other similar crimes. Customs authorities are taking measures for more safe transportation and exports, he added. APP
