PESHAWAR
Iqra University and Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad would clash in the final after recording victories against their respective rivals in the All-Pakistan Inter-University Women Squash Championship being played under the aegis of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University here at Qamar Zaman Squash Complex on Sunday.
Legendary and former World No. 2 Mohib Ullah was the chief guest on this occasion who witnessed the two semi-finals matches of the Championship in which a total of 15 Universities teams are taking part. Deputy Director Sports Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Mariyyah Samin, national coach Tahir Iqbal, Chief Referee Munawar Zaman, Referee Adil Faqir, Riaz Khan, officials and players were also present.
In the first semi-finals Iqra University Zohra defeated Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan’s Maira Hussain by 3-0, the score was 12-10, 11-3 and 11-9, Hira Aqeel of AWKUM defeated Aaima of Iqra University by 3-0, the score was 11-4, 11-2 and 11-3 and in the third singles of the Team event Umme Kulsoom of Iqra beat Sapna Akbar of Abdul Wali Shah University Mardan by 11-5, 11-1 and 11-2.
In the second semi-final Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad defeated Lahore College for Women University by 3-0.
In the first singles Manahil Aqeel of QAU beat Iqra Ameen of LCW by 3-0, the score was 11-1, 11-1 and 11-1, Nimra Aqeel of QAU beat Tania Younis of LCW by 11-0, 11-2 and 11-2 while in the third singles Hira Safdar beat Anzeela of LCW by 11-4, 11-5 and 11-7.
