ISLAMABAD : Supreme Court (SC) has rejected Wapda appeal on the matter of acquiring ancestral land of a citizen at the rate of Rs 350 per marla remarking it is not injustice that WAPDA acquires ancestral land of a citizen at the rate of Rs 350 per marla which costs only a cup of tea at a restaurant .

The case of acquiring land at the cost of Rs 350 per marla by WAPDA in Mardan came up for hearing before a 2 members bench of SC presided over by Justice Sajjad Ali Shah here Friday.

Justice Sajjad Ali Shah remarked “ is it not injustice that WAPDA acquires ancestral land of a citizen at the rate of Rs 350 per marla which is cost of cup of tea at a hotel.
Justice Sajjad Ali Shah inquired do you know what is rate of land in Mardan.

Counsel for WAPDA Shakir Ullah Afridi said this was arid land and WAPDA has made it barani. Such rate prevails in the area.

The court while rejecting WAPDA appeal ordered to pay Rs 4000 per marla to the citizen Wahid.
