ISLAMABAD: Justice Munib Akhtar of Supreme Court (SC) has remarked is regulating media job of government. He further remarked will court cut down basic human rights. Tell us what is contempt of institutions. There is a decision of UK court there is no contempt of government. A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan took up for hearing the case regarding prohibition of defamation of state institutions here Wednesday. During the hearing of the case the counsel Haider Wahid took the plea “ my case is meant for regulating freedom of speech. SC has already issued order to regulate broadcast media.
It is my request that order be issued for regulating social media on the pattern of broadcast media.
Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan remarked “ you should say to parliament. We will not say to legislate.
The court while giving more time to the petitioner for further preparation in respect of case adjourned the hearing for indefinite period.
