ISLAMABAD
Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued notice to respondents including Election Commission (EC) on the petition filed by Fawad Chaudhry against his jail trial in Contempt of EC case besides seeking replies from them.
The court also issued notice to jail administration on harassing female lawyer.
A single bench of IHC led by Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz heard the case.
Faisal Chaudhry appeared in the court on behalf of Fawad Chaudhry.
He took the plea that Jail trial by EC in contempt of EC case runs contrary to the law. EC is not authorized to hold jail trial in contempt of EC case.
He said jail trial of his client is also being conducted due to jail trial of PTI founder.
The female lawyer was harassed by jail administration in previous hearing.
The court summoned reply from the respondents.
The court while issuing notice to jail administration on harassing female lawyer adjourned the hearing of the case.
