WASHINGTON : US special representative for Afghanistan reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad has expressed hope that Kabul government can go for side deal with Pakistan.

According to media reports on one hand US have started withdrawal process of its army from Afghanistan to end the ever longest war. On the other hand Taliban and Afghan government have begun peace talks which are highly slow paced.

Zalmay Khalilzad said Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan and army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa extended help on diplomatic front.

While taking part in forum through video link from Doha he said “we are striving for bringing Pakistan and Afghanistan to an agreement. The two countries will agree with each other that they will not allow the extremists and terrorist groups to use their soil.

He hoped if Kabul and Taliban succeed in reaching an accord then he is seeing economic facilities for Pakistan. There are such economic causes which will give rise to change in the region. But peace must come in Afghanistan on this count.
