Consisting on most talented Children the Khushal Baba House clinched the overall trophy of the “Smile Again” Sports Festival organized under the aegis of Directorate General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for 700 plus Orphans and Destitute Children housed at Zamung Kor here on Friday.
The thrill-packed Sports Festival for Orphans and Destitute Children at Zamung Kor, a Pashto language word meaning (Our House) ends with all its grandeur. More than 700 children participated in the festival, the children of Khushal Baba House won the major trophy. The closing ceremony of the three-day sports festival was held at Zamung Kor Model Institute, Peshawar.
Special Assistant for Minority Affairs Wazirzada, Advisor to Chief Minister for Information Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, DG Sports Khalid Khan, Director Zamung Kor Syed Mazhar Ali Shah, Director Operation Sports Azizullah Jan, Assistant Director Ashfaq Ahmed and other important personalities were present who distributed prizes among the children.
In the festival, more than 700 children of Zamung Kor actively participated in different events including football, cricket, karate, judo, jujitsu, athletics, tug of war, badminton and volleyball. Rehman Baba House took first position in Football, followed by Allama Iqbal House, in jiu jitsu the team of Khushal Baba House got gold and the team of Rahman Baba House got the silver medal. In the junior cricket competition, Khushal Baba House won the first position while Rehman Baba House took the second position. Similarly, in the senior cricket competition, Allama Iqbal house won the final trophy while Khushal Baba House was the runner-up.
In football, junior and senior competitions, Allama Iqbal House got the first position while Hamza Shinwari House took the second position and in the senior competitions Khushal Baba house got the first position while Rehman Baba house took the second position. In the Races Mahaz took gold while Hamza took silver medal.
Speaking on the occasion, Barrister Mohammad Saif said that the children of Zamung Kor are our children, they are the children of Pakistan and all kinds of cooperation will be ensured for their welfare. He expressed his satisfaction over the talent that the children have in various games and said that they would soon reach at the national and international levels.
He also announced that more than 50 kanals of land have already been acquired and would be handed over to the Engineering Wing of the Directorate General Sports for the construction of a multipurpose ground for the Children of Zamung Kor.
DG Sports KP Khalid Khan said that promotion of sports in the province is our motto and sports activities are being provided to everyone in the province. He said that the provincial government is paying special attention to sports infrastructure and sports activities, which is the reason why sports events are being organized continuously across the province.
DG Sports said that sports for the children of Zamung Kor, the Directorate General Sports will include the festival in its annual calendar and provide sports equipment to these children besides taking steps for the development of sports infrastructure over the land acquired for Zamung Kor playground. At the end fireworks and beautiful martial arts performances were there with children of Zamung Kor enthusiastically participating.
