KP allocates Rs2.4b for student’s scholarship

The provincial government on Monday presented a Rs1, 332 billion balanced budget for the financial year 2022-23 including an allocation of Rs 2.4 billion for the students scholarship. The allocation was made under the Rs144 billion earmarked for the Elementary and Secondary Education (E&S).
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Minister for Finance and Health while presenting the budget shared that talented students would be encouraged and an amount of R2.4 billion has been reserved for this purpose in the budget.
The Minister said that an amount of Rs 3.4 billion has been earmarked out of total Rs 36.6 billion for establishing 711 schools both for boys and girls.
He said that Rs3.2 billion out of the total Rs.35.5 billion allocated for reconstruction of 1,318 schools.
In order to improve the standard of more than 521 schools in the province, the provincial government allocated Rs2.1 billion from the budget while Rs2.6 billion to be utilized for the up-gradation of 914 schools.
An amount of Rs 320 million allocated for basic amenities, providing bags and stationery to school students.
An allocation of Rs500 million has been made for the scholarships of students from class 1 to class 8 in merged districts of the province, said budget documents.
According to the documents, Rs 2 billion was allocated for purchase of furniture, Rs1 billion for second shift classes.
