Peshawar
Provincial Minister for Law Fazal Shakur Khan on Tuesday chaired the first meeting of the committee of Provincial Cabinet on the Review and Increase in Salaries and Fees of Law Officers in his office in Peshawar. The meeting was attended by Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, Special Assistant to CM on Information & PRs, Advocate General Shamail Butt, and other senior law department officials.
Advocate General Shamail Butt briefed the committee on current law officer salaries, fees, non-practicing allowance, transportation allowance, and other allowances during the meeting.
He explained before the committee that there is a disparity between officers’ pay and allowances in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other provinces, and that officers’ salaries in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are relatively low in comparison to other provinces.
Provincial Law Minister Fazal Shakur Khan directed law department officers to immediately begin homework on law officers’ salaries, allowances, transportation allowance and other issues, and to present a summary in accordance with legal requirements at the next meeting of the provincial cabinet, so that the problems of law officers can be resolved in a timely manner.
Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, Special Assistant to CM on Information & PRs, said that they will do their best to address any concerns relating to law officers’ allowances and salary as soon as possible, and that these allowances will be paid as soon as possible after the approval from provincial cabinet instead of the next financial year.
“We endeavour to provide as much relief to all government employees as possible so that they may carry out their obligations and work with the highest honesty, good manners, and duty,” he added.
