Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Minister for Tribal Affairs, Industries, Commerce and Technical Education, Dr Syed Aamer Abdullah visited the Nowshera Economic Zone and Risalpur Export Processing Zone on Thursday and inaugurated a state-of-the-art splint manufacturing unit in the zone.
During the visit, he was accompanied by Secretary Industries, Commerce and Technical Education, Zulfiqar Ali Shah and other high ups of the department, said a statement.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Risalpur Export Processing Zone is considered one of the important zones operating under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development & Management Company (KPEZDMC).
The provincial minister, Dr Syed Aamer Abdullah, was given a detailed briefing regarding the economic activities in the zone by the Chief Executive Officer KPEZDMC Javed Iqbal and welcomed him along with the senior management team.
The primary purpose of the visit was to mark the groundbreaking ceremony of representing a substantial capital investment of USD 16 Million. This new facility is expected to provide employment opportunities to 450 individuals, with a noteworthy commitment to gender diversity, as 50pc of the workforce is expected to be female, said the officials.
The company has also revived six units in the aforementioned zone at Risalpur.
Meanwhile, the minister attended the groundbreaking ceremonies for enterprises in two sectors within the Nowshera Economic Zone. These included PPRC and PVC pipes, and plastic crates.
The officials estimated the collective investment in these ventures close to Rs210 million, offering employment to approximately 330 individuals.
Dr Syed Aamer Abdullah visited other industries including a construction soap and chemical industry with capital investment of Rs 500 million having 250 employees.
The provincial minister also planted a tree in the zone and emphasized the commitment to environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
