PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah on Tuesday reaffirmed solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir, saying the provincial government and people stood shoulder to shoulder with Kashmiris on Youm-i-Istehsal. In his message issued on the occasion, the chief secretary expressed sympathy and support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, saying they had been subjected to “illegal occupation and oppression” by India. He said India’s decision on Aug 5, 2019, to revoke Articles 370 and 35A was a violation of international law and United Nations resolutions, and had adversely affected the political, cultural and demographic identity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Mr Shah called on the international community and human rights organisations to hold India accountable for what he described as illegal actions and alleged human rights violations in the region. Paying tribute to the courage, sacrifices and resilience of the Kashmiri people, the chief secretary said they had continued their struggle despite difficult circumstances and that their sacrifices would not be forgotten.
