Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Tuesday expressed grief over the martyrdom of a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and other personnel in a terrorist firing incident in Kohat, and sought a report from the inspector general of police.
In a statement issued here, the Chief Minister strongly condemned the attack, terming the targeting of officers responsible for maintaining law and order and protecting the lives and property of citizens an “inhuman and cowardly act”.
He said the KP Police served as the first line of defence against terrorism and that their sacrifices would remain unforgettable. “The police force has stood firm against elements hostile to peace for several decades. Such cowardly acts cannot shake their resolve,” he added.
Mr Afridi said the provincial government stood in complete solidarity with the families of the martyrs and shared their grief.
He prayed for the elevation of ranks of the martyrs, patience and fortitude for the bereaved families, and directed the authorities concerned to ensure the provision of the best possible medical facilities to those injured in the attack.
