Four Khyber Pakhtunkhwa departments including Higher Education, Local Government, Tourism and Social Welfare have signed performance framework agreements under the provincial government’s Good Governance Roadmap, setting measurable targets and timelines for service delivery and institutional reforms.
The agreements aim to translate the roadmap into concrete and measurable outcomes, with the departments required to complete the assigned targets within specified timelines, said a statement.
Under the Social Welfare Department’s targets, 10 Dar-ul-Amans will be upgraded, three non-functional shelter homes will be made operational and three meals a day will be ensured at 15 centres.
The department will also improve the Peshawar Centre of Excellence for Autism, upgrade three special education institutions and outsource five others. In addition, 124 industrial training centres across the province will be modernised.
In the tourism sector, master plans for Galiyat, Kaghan and Kumrat will be completed, while daily waste collection will be introduced at major tourist destinations.
Integrated tourism zones in Thandiani and Ghanool will be fast-tracked, while seven rest areas will be made operational.
The Local Government Department will launch a digital platform to monitor the disposal of 7,000 tonnes of waste daily. It will also install covers on 6,200 manholes in urban areas and initiate construction of four modern landfill sites in Kohat, Peshawar, Abbottabad and Mardan.
Under the Higher Education Department’s targets, five underperforming colleges will be outsourced and two colleges will be converted into institutions of applied sciences.
More than 1,000 BS students will be provided industrial internships, while incubators will be made operational at five universities. A pilot project for commercialisation of research is also targeted for launch by the end of the year.
The departments have been directed to ensure timely completion of all targets under the performance agreements, with progress to be monitored against the agreed timelines and indicators.
