The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Auqaf, Hajj, Religious and Minority Affairs Department has finalised arrangements for the Ruet-i-Hilal meeting to sight the Ramazan moon for 1447 AH, following a high-level review chaired by the provincial secretary, a handout said.
The meeting was attended by senior officials of the Auqaf Department, representatives from the Information Department, Rescue 1122, and the police, who reviewed administrative, security, and media arrangements ahead of the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee’s visit to Peshawar on February 18 (29th Sha’ban).
Officials said the chairman of the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee, along with 21 members, would visit the Auqaf office in Peshawar to oversee formal arrangements for moon sighting. The session focused on coordinated planning to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
Comprehensive media coverage through print and electronic outlets will be ensured. Rescue 1122 confirmed the deployment of ambulances, fire vehicles, and emergency staff at the venue, while the police assured foolproof security. Measures including bomb disposal clearance, installation of CCTV cameras, and drone surveillance will be implemented, with the final security plan to be completed by February 16 in consultation with relevant authorities.
Protocol arrangements, including official transport for dignitaries, have also been finalised. The Meteorological Department informed the meeting that the Ramazan moon is expected to be born on February 17 at around 5pm, with strong chances of visibility on the evening of February 18.
The Auqaf Department has been tasked with venue management, seating arrangements, and organisation of the press conference, while all participating departments have been directed to maintain close coordination to ensure peaceful and efficient conduct of the Ruet-i-Hilal proceedings.
