Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority on Friday failed to supply dead chicken to the citizens. The officials of the authority seized 4500 dead chickens in an operation carried out on Charsadda Road Peshawar. They said that the dead chickens were secretly being supplied in the local market.
According to Director General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority Shah Rukh Ali Khan, three shops were sealed during the crackdown, while four people were arrested on the spot. He said that the dead chickens were supplied to different parts of the city after being slaughtered.
Efforts are being made to provide quality, safe and halal chicken meat to the citizens, he added. Apart from Peshawar, the food safety team also inspected food-related businesses in various other districts of the province. According to the spokesperson, the food safety team with the help of mobile food testing laboratory tested samples of milk and beverages in Matta and Babuzai tehsils of Swat district and disposed of more than 100 liters of adulterated and substandard milk from various dairy shops.
