KP Government to spend Rs 8 billion to impart digital skills to youth: Atif Khan

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Science Technology and Information Technology (ST&IT) and Food Atif Khan has said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would spend Rs.8 billion to impart basic, medium and advanced level digital skills to one lakh youth of the province.
“Training of one lakh youth, would annually add Rs.21 billion to economy of the province,”added the minister.
He expressed these views while addressing graduation ceremony after successful completion of digital training to 3000 women under Digital Skills Internship Program held at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) here on Tuesday.
Members of provincial assembly, Secretary ST&IT Dr. Anbar Ali Khan, DG Science Technology, Managing Director KPITB Dr. Sahibzada Ali Mehmood and other officials were present on the occasion.
The Minister said that digital skills and IT sector has revolutionized the world, and providing training to the youth in the IT sector is the top priority of provincial government. Atif Khan stressed upon youth to take maximum advantage from IT trainings and equip themselves with latest digital skills so as to be able to compete in market.
“Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Youth Employment Program is a flagship project of KPITB under which different IT trainings have been provided to as many as 11700 graduates” , said Atif, adding that 3,300 women were trained under Digital Skills Program along with 2,000 youth under KP Digital Internship Program.
Atif Khan said four special technology zones are going to be established in province soon for improvement and promotion of IT sector. Speaking on the occasion, Managing Director KPITB said that digital skills are our flagship program. He elaborated that there are numerous opportunities in the digital economy and importance of digital skills has increased manifold after onset of Covid-19. Women are also being given equal opportunities in digital skills, concluded Atif Khan.
