KP Governor says quality research important for development

Governor Ghulam Ali on Tuesday termed quality research a cornerstone for the development in all fields of life, saying that there are a number of research institutes in the province, however, very few of them focused on quality research.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Ghulam Ali expressed these views during an introductory meeting with the participants of a training course at the Higher Education Academy for Research and Training (HEART).
Caretaker provincial minister for higher education Justice (R) Irshad Qaiser, Director HEART Tasbihullah, and professors of various colleges, who are conducting compulsory training courses for promotion from grade 21 to grade 22 of the academy were also present on the occasion, said a handout.
Director HEART briefed Ghulam Ali about the aims and objectives of the establishment of the academy, he said that the academy was established in 2016 under the Act, in which the professors of the colleges are given a mandatory training course of 4 months for development.
He also informed Governor KP about severe financial problems faced by the academy.
Governor informed that the issue would be taken up with the finance department, planning and development department to provide the required budget to the academy.
Talking to the participants of the course, the Governor said that teachers and professors have an important fundamental role in the formation of an educated, civilized nation.
Teachers play a key role in equipping our young generation with knowledge, experience and shape character building of students.
He said that intolerance, lack of values, traditions and decency have been growing in the society for the past few years and now it is the responsibility of the education experts and teachers to play their role in maintaining the traditions, decency and values in the society by shaping the character of the students.
He further said that all institutions should increase their capacity in the research sector and accept
the promotion of research and research as a challenge because there are challenges to be faced to achieve any goal.
Separately, senior leaders of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and former provincial minister Abdul Subhan Khan and Azam Khan and the representative delegations headed by Awami National Party (ANP) also met the governor.
Meanwhile, a delegation led by Amir Nawaz from Lucky Marwat also met the governor at the governor house and informed the governor about some of the problems faced by the people of Lucky Marwat, on which the governor assured the delegation of full cooperation in solving the problems.
