PESHAWAR
Following the bomb blast incident at Qisa-Khwani Bazar, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government announced medicinal emergency in district Peshawar, said a notification issued by the health department here on Friday.
According to the notification, all doctors and support staff of the government health facilities including all major hospitals of the provincial capital have been directed to remain on red alert for prompt medical assistance and treatment for the injured of the blast.
“In wake of bomb blast at Qisa Khwani Bazar, Peshawar which resulted into multiple deaths and injuries, Health Department has announced medical emergency in District Peshawar,” it stated.
The provincial health department has directed the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH), Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC), and Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) to suspend holidays of all staff including nursing, doctors and other medical technicians with immediate effect.
It is pertinent to mention here that Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Mahmood Khan has also directed the members of the cabinet to visit the hospitals and monitor the overall medical facilities for the injured.
Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) hospital spokesperson Muhammad Asim told reporters that dead bodies of people from all age groups have been brought in, adding that most of the injured of the blast were critically wounded.
Edhi Rescue service was also taking part in the rescue operations taking inured and dead bodies to the district hospitals and claimed that more than 100 people were injured in the suicide blast.
