KP Govt approves billions for flood protection schemes in Karak

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved a series of massive flood protection and water conservation projects worth billions of rupees for Karak district, Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Muhammad Sajjad Barakwal said on Sunday. According to a statement issued by Information Department, comprehensive development package includes construction of flood protection walls, embankments, causeways, and small storage reservoirs. These infrastructure schemes would be deployed across several flood-prone localities, including Lawaghar Algada, Mashi Khel, Kashu Ghara, Mohbati Khelay, Zamari Gardang, Kas Banda, Lindiki Koroona, Paloski Banda, Lundi Wagi, Kunda Siraj Khel, Takrawan, Surti Khelay, Chokara Dawala, Wanki Kal Tangi, Darki Banda, and Deli Banda. The initiatives are strategically designed to mitigate severe impact of seasonal and flash floods by safeguarding valuable farmland, residential neighborhoods, roads, bridges, and other vital public infrastructure. MPA Barakwal said that securing these major approvals is culmination of years of persistent advocacy and continuous engagement with relevant authorities to address long-standing needs of Karak. APP
