Provincial Minister for Culture, Tourism, Archaeology & Museums Fazal Shakoor Khan, has said that the incumbent government was taking tangible measures in line with the vision of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, to promote tourism, culture, and heritage across the province.
He maintained that the Chief Minister’s vision is to project Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a prominent international tourist destination , place where natural beauty, cultural diversity, and historical heritage not only attract global recognition but also open new avenues for development and employment.
The KP Minister highlighted that the growth of tourism was essential not only for strengthening the economy but also for promoting a positive image of Pakistan at the global level.
He expressed these views on Monday after assuming charge of his office and receiving an initial departmental briefing.
During the session, Secretary Tourism, Dr. Abdul Samad, apprised the Minister in detail about the department’s ongoing projects, new schemes, developmental targets, and current performance.
Other concerned officers of the department were also present on the occasion.
Mr. Fazal Shakoor Khan said that KP was blessed with immense natural and historical wealth, and the government was determined to develop these sites according to international standards.
He added that after petroleum, tourism was recognized as the largest industry worldwide, and its development in the will generate thousands of new job opportunities.
The Minister directed the officials concerned to ensure the timely completion of all tourism-related development projects so that the public can benefit from them without delay.
He also emphasized that measures are being taken to promote adventure tourism in the province.
“Introduction of modern boating facilities at Haripur Dam and the establishment of additional ski resorts for winter tourism are among the priority initiatives being accelerated” he said.
The Provincial Minister reaffirmed his commitment that the Department of Tourism, Culture, Archaeology, and Museums will work in line with the vision of Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur to make its services more vibrant, result-oriented, and productive — ensuring that KP emerges not only as the hub of tourism and culture in Pakistan but also as a recognized destination worldwide.
