The special assistant to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for industry, trade and commerce Abdul Karim has said that the government was committed to ensure availability of ‘cheap and uninterrupted electricity’ to all industrial zones across the province.
He said that the government was taking practical steps to solve power related issues to the industrial sector, adding unfortunately, Islamabad High Court (IHC) has placed a ban over the transportation of electricity through the wheeling system.
He expressed these while chairing an important meeting on the issues of electricity supply to several industrial zones in KP here on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by the high ups of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC), Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade (KP-BOIT) and Advocate General-KP.
The Chief Executive (CEO) of PEDO informed the forum about the problems being faced by the industrial sector of the province.
The meeting was informed that there was a complete ban over the transmission of lines through the wheeling system. It added that had there been no prohibition, the wheeling system could help the province to boost the industrial sector by meeting their needs for power.
Special assistant to the CM on trade and commerce assured the forum that the issue of cheap and uninterrupted power supply would be taken up in the next meeting of the provincial cabinet.
Abdul Karim maintained that the representatives of the relevant sector would be taken on board to solve the issues of adequate supply of energy to industrial zones, adding that the provincial government committed to ensure cheap supply of electricity to the sector for their smooth productions.
