KP govt rejects reports of ‘lavish expenditures’ in Dubai Expo

Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Information and Public Relations, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif has rejected the latest reports by some media outlets which claimed that the provincial government lamakers and officials have spent lavishly in the Dubi Expo.
Sharing details of the spending in the Dubai Expo, he said that the provincial government made an allocation worth Rs50 crore, out of which only Rs18 crores were spent on different official activities. He clarified that ministers, advisers and other high officials of the relevant departments participated in the expo and none of them spent unwisely .
In a statement issued by the provincial government spokesman added that cabinet members and relevant department officials’ presence were mandatory in the expo to ink a number of different agreements with foreign investors.
“In Dubai Expo, a record Rs8 billion dollars of investment 44 agreements have been signed, which is showing positive results,” he claimed.
He said a number of foreign countries and companies have shown keen interest in different sectors of the province for investment after the expo.
The spokesman shared that KP government was in contact with the investors and a committee has been formed to oversee the affairs related to foreign investment, adding that an additional chief secretary has been tasked to expedite work on agreements made during Dubai Expo.
Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif said that the provincial government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has provided a favorable environment for foreign and local investors.
He said the provincial government has taken several initiatives to end corruption and nepotism in the province on the direction of Chairman PTI Imran Khan.d
