PESHAWAR: Provincial Health Minister Khaleeq-ur-Rehman on Thursday laid the foundation stone of a new girls’ hostel block at Khyber College of Dentistry (KCD), aimed at improving residential facilities for female students. The six-storey hostel will have 28 rooms and is estimated to cost Rs133.66 million. The project will be financed from the college’s own budget. Speaking at the ceremony, the minister said the project reflected the government’s commitment to quality education, women’s empowerment and provision of better facilities for female students. He appreciated the role of KCD in promoting academic excellence, research, digital dentistry and community-oriented dental services, saying investment in educational infrastructure was essential for producing skilled healthcare professionals. During his visit, the minister also inspected various dental sections and reviewed facilities and services available to patients and students. KCD Dean Prof Dr Syed Nasir Shah briefed him about the college’s academic and clinical activities, available facilities and operational arrangements. Mr Khaleeq directed the college administration to maintain high standards of patient care, academic training and institutional management.
