An important meeting held here on Tuesday with Secretary Livestock and Fisheries Mukhtiar Ahmed in the chair, decided to hold the first international livestock poultry congress in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The meeting which was held at Directorate of Livestock and Dairy Development attended by Director General Livestock Extension Dr Alam Zaib, Director General Livestock Research Ijaz Ali, Director General Fisheries Dr Khusro Kaleem, department officers, representatives of livestock and poultry manufacturing firms and land owners.
The forum reviewed preparations for the upcoming congress on livestock and poultry sector of the province.
Secretary Livestock on this occasion shed lights on the importance of the livestock sector and the role of the department in meeting nutritional needs.
Mr Mukhtiar termed the holding of the International Livestock and Poultry Congress as a milestone for the development of the livestock sector.
Speaking on this occasion, other speakers emphasized the importance of the cooperation of manufactures firms and other institutions and said that the firms are playing an important role in the development of the livestock sector to meet poverty and food needs in the province.
