PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was set to launch a major environmental campaign on Aug-14 by planting over 1.4 million saplings across province to mark Independence Day. Latif-ur-Rehman, spokesperson for Department of Climate Change, Forests, Environment, and Wildlife said here Sunday that provincial government was actively working to make the vision of a greener province a reality. Driven by motto “Green Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Safe Pakistan,” special preparations have been completed to ensure widespread planting throughout the region. He said the initiative was a joint community effort to protect local environment and fight effects of climate change. By expanding green cover, KP government aimed to preserve its natural ecosystems and build long term climate resilience, he added. APP
